The problem

Where it started.

Parents search by three different things at once — the exam (11+, SATs, GCSE, A-Level), the child's age, and how far they are willing to drive. A single services page cannot answer all three, and the decision ends with a trial booking rather than a purchase.

The answer is not one shape either. The same subject is taught in a group of four or one-to-one, in a center in Croydon, Slough or Lewisham, or online to a family who will never visit one. A parent has to be able to land on any combination of those and still reach the right trial booking — and online is the part that takes the drive out of the decision altogether.

The fix

What it solved.

Four things were true before this project and are not true now.

  • One services page trying to answer every searchA page for every key stage, every exam and every center
  • Three catchment areas, and nothing outside themOnline lessons sold on the same footing as in-center
  • No obvious next step for a parent who was convincedEvery route ends at the same free trial booking
  • Existing parents and prospects reading the same pagesA parent portal behind a login, separate from the pitch

The work

What we built.

Structured by key stage

Key Stage 1–2, 3, 4 and 5 as their own pages, covering English, maths and science for ages 5 to 18.

Exam-specific courses

11+ and entrance exams, SATs, GCSE retakes and UCAT preparation, each answering a different search.

A page per center

Croydon, Slough and Lewisham each with their own page, so local search has something to land on.

Two formats, two ways to attend

Groups capped at four or one tutor per student, taught in a center or online — presented as a choice a parent makes rather than four separate products.

Trust, stated plainly

Groups capped at four, DBS-checked tutors and personalized learning plans — the three things a parent asks before anything else.

Free trial as the conversion

Every route ends at a trial booking, with an enrollment form behind it.

Parent portal

A logged-in area for parents, separate from the marketing site.

Process

How we ran it.

  1. 01

    Mapped how parents search

By exam, by age and by town — the three axes the site is built on.

  2. 02

    Wrote the structure first

Key stages, courses and centers agreed as a sitemap before design.

  3. 03

    Designed for one action

Every page routes to the free trial.

  4. 04

    Built and launched

Course pages, center pages, enrollment and the parent portal.

The setup

What went live.

4Maximum students per group
3Centers: Croydon, Slough and Lewisham
6Course routes, 11-plus to A-level retakes
2Ways to attend: in-center or online

Parents do not search for a tuition company, they search for maths tuition in Croydon. We were relying on word of mouth in three towns at once. Now each center has its own page, every course ends at a trial booking, and the group still stops at four so the teaching does not change.
